The figure as a territory of memory.

My practice begins with the human figure, but it is not concerned with likeness alone. I use the face and body as territories in which memory, inherited experience and psychological tension become visible.

Working primarily with charcoal, pastel and mixed media, I allow forms to emerge through layering, abrasion, interruption and erasure. The image moves between realism and abstraction: a recognisable presence is constructed, disturbed and sometimes partially lost. Fragmentation is not used as spectacle, but as a controlled way of revealing what a stable surface cannot contain.

Nautical charts and the traces of life at sea have become part of this language. They function both as material and as biography — routes already travelled, systems of orientation and surfaces marked by distance. Across my work, the figure carries these routes inward, becoming a map of what remains, what is transmitted and what refuses to disappear.
